Although they are beautiful and natural looking, to some they can be very painful. Some experienced pain in the removal, going under the UV the gel can get hot and the “primer” that is used as a base can even sting. To others nothing happened and look just great, natural and beautiful.
There were, however various test cases and comments by women regarding there experiences and they may have consequences by using gel nails.
So, for those who fell pain and have set on gel, but want to avoid risks like, nerve pain, cancer and even fungal infection.
Some gel nail polishes contains a chemicals which can cause an allergic skin reaction. And wherever the type of chemical that comes into contact with the skin, a rash may develop. So carefully pay attention to the touch of your eyes throughout the day. Cortisone cream should be used to remove polish and clear any rashes.
There’s a cancer-causing agent chemical found in some gel nail polishes. Better check that ingredient list.
Gel nail polish is cured with UV light. Basically it’s just like baking. And the problem that arises is that UV causes skin cancer.
To avoid potential skin cancers a very good high sunscreen should be used directly to your hands and fingers. Or wear a tightly woven cotton gloves with the tips of the fingers cut off. Other alternative to UV is LED. Better check with your local manicurist.
Gel polish removal is done with acetone which is a very drying chemical. This will cause your nail to become brittle and peel.
With acrylic nails, the surface of your nail is roughed with an emery board, before gel polish appliance. For this it will weaken the nail and lead to breakage and may contribute to infection.
But there’s hope for the gel lovers. One company know as CND, announced the first ‘hybrid’ gel called “Shellac”.
So, I would recommend to investigate a little better on gel manicures and take a look at this alternative.
Are things hopeless, then?
Well, acrylics are set to be stronger than gel. The use of high quality end products makes lots of difference in the strength, the look and feel.
Acrylic nails are the standard of nail enhancements. Gel nails are non-toxic, lightweight and can become more realistic than the acrylic ones.
Just be sure to have someone really skilled in the application of gels do your nails for you. Gels are easy to do, but very difficult to master. Not a lot of techs can do a really good job when it comes to gel nails.
Above all, study first what you would like to do; Know the risks; Choose a high salon with a high-end tech and last but not least,
Enjoy your manicure
